Application process

Candidates born in or after 1993 may apply for a place in the competition.

Preliminary round: To be admitted to the competition, you need to submit a video recording of the music required for the preliminary round. Please upload your video-recording in mp4 format to the plattform as instructed after filling in the registration form. The preselection jury will assess the recordings and rule on the admission to the competition by late December 2022. The preselection jury is made up of well-known international soloists. All recordings will be judged in an anonymous audition.

A maximum of 50 candidates per instrument will be admitted to the competition.

The first and second rounds will be with piano or harpsichord accompaniment and in the rooms of Muri Abbey.

In the semi-finals no more than six candidates per instrument will perform. The semi-finals will be two-fold: First of all, the performance of a piece from the classical repertoire is required. In the second part, the semi-finalists will perform a new composition specially commissioned for the competition, as they did at the 2019 edition.

In the final round and concert, three finalists per instrument will be joined by a orchestra. The final concert will be held in the baroque concert hall of Muri Abbey, followed by the awards ceremony.
